River Academy Preschool and Learning Center

Former employee, don’t work there!! Don’t take your kids, very unorganized management. I honestly don’t have anything really nice to say about that place other than most of the teachers are great, they just don’t get proper supplies they need and support from management/owners.

Would give zero stars if I could. I have worked at River Academy 3 different times over a span of 2 years for good reason. I used to absolutely LOVE River Academy but under recent management changes this place has really gone down hill. As a teacher I did not feel supported in the classroom or respected as an employee. I did my very best to provide to my class the curriculum and environment that is advertised to the parents, but I was not given the resources, support, or time needed to do so. I recently discovered that parents are paying a monthly fee for curriculum supplies, and the teachers are only given about 20% of that money for actual classroom supplies. We were not given any information on where the extra money is going to. Some of my biggest concerns were that there were no protocols on how to deal with tough situations and there was no consistency in managing the building. An example of this is that the ratios were not always consistent with the state mandated ratios for each room. Some days we would be way over ratio in certain classrooms and the management wouldn't do anything to fix it. Every time I was given instruction or information it was not reliable because it would change the very next day. Overall, I felt that most of the problems staff faced were not resolved after bringing it up to management, due to their inability to communicate appropriately with their employees. I hate to say this but if you would have asked me 6 months ago where to take your kids for child care I would have for sure said River Academy! But now I wouldn't wish river academy upon anyone's family or any prospective employees.nnAnd furthermore I posted this review on their facebook page and they removed it. I cannot believe that they would actually stoop low enough to delete negative reviews on their page to make themselves appear to be better than they really are. This is the second time I am posting this review because I believe that prospective parents and employees should know this information.

My son attended part-time in the infant and one’s room at River Academy and we loved it. If you are looking for a place where your child will be loved, well-taken care of, and you can communicate effectively will all staff, then this is your place! They are always doing activities and teaching them new things! When my son came home and starting singing to me “more please” I was ecstatic. I was even more ecstatic when I found out they were teaching him the alphabet, already! We only experienced one injury (a bite from a classmate) but it never happened again. There was one kiddo who was struggling behaviorally, but they quickly worked with the child and parents to correct the behavior. We had to leave due to a move and feel nothing but regret as we struggle to find anything that compares. I would pay double for the quality care we had at River!

My two-year-old daughter goes to River Academy Preschool in Eagle two times a week and has been there for six months. My daughter was home with me prior to bringing her to a preschool so I was VERY nervous and uneasy about the whole thing. The staff has made me feel at ease each step of the way. They welcome my (sometimes numerous) check up calls. The teachers are caring and I completely trust my child with them and anyone else under their roof. The location is new and amazing and bright. Their outdoor equipment is so fun! Go tour any time to see for yourself.

River Academy made false claims that my child had HSV. He never tested positive and this was proven from our pediatrician at St Luke’s. Now my child has to be uprooted from a school at 18 months old. This is poor judgement and disgusting action on their part. They also have kept a child at the school that has tested positive for HSV! Very disappointing.
