Neat abandoned train station and coke furnaces. Beautiful camp spot with toilet (non-flushing). Playground above campground.

The first come ovens were built at this site in 1902. By 1909 the Sunnyside mine was mining 3000 tons of coal per day, with most of it feeding the 650 coke ovens that were located adjacent to the mine. The ovens closed in 1948. Great place to explore on your own.

Great place to see some history

Mind blowing historic site. The ruins of over 800 ovens lie scattered on the landscape. The unique back to back beehive design is truly unique. Walk around the old railway station and other buildings and be careful not to disturb anything. There are also several ATV trails near here to enjoy.

Such a neat place to see. Great history and a great place to camp. Has pit toilets, a playground for the kids and just overall neat atmosphere. Can get super windy but its a great place to check out.
