I Started at Iron + Mortar about three months ago after a good friend suggested it. Before starting I thought I was in pretty good shape, being a frequent gym goer. I was soon humbled after my first and exciting workout at Iron + Mortar. After 3 months of consistent training under Brenden’s program design I can now say I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve been in since college. This place is awesome, if you are hesitant I’d say get in and try a class ASAP and your decision will be made. Great facility and even better people.

I started going to Iron & Mortar at the beginning of January. I was a completely sedentary desk worker with lots of extra weight I’d been putting on. Through a friend I heard about Iron & Mortar, and something about CrossFit, and so I decided to pop in, and learn more about the gym. Head coach and owner, Brenden Loyer, met me as I walked in and he and I discussed my admittedly vague goals and what he and his team have to offer through their coaching and classes. Brenden explained to me that they aren’t “CrossFit” and they’re not here to push you til you die, but rather to focus on functional fitness, working on technique, ability, and overall health improvement.nI agreed to try out some personal one on one sessions, as I knew I would be starting from a very very beginner starting point and was quite intimidated by the whole idea.nNow I try to go at least 3 times a week. Everyday at Iron & Mortar I experience such incredible support and encouragement, starting with my first personal one on one session through each group class. I admit that I am nowhere near the fitness levels of a lot of the members at the gym but I have various accommodations that allow me to participate and improve every day. The coaches and the other members are so positive and affirming, I feel stronger and better everyday I go, both inside and out. If you’re worried that this isn’t for you, that you can’t do this kind of workout, you’re wrong. The hardest part is walking in that door for the first time. But believe me when I say, you’ll be glad you did.

Absolutely love Brenden, Ashley and their staff! The gym is clean, welcoming, and very positive. They know all of their members and know how to challenge them. Great atmosphere!

Layci and Quincy are outstanding in their knowledge of nutrition, healthy eating, and how to empower others to view food in a healthy and positive way. If you are someone looking for nutritional guidance and/or a place to workout, I highly suggest Iron and Mortar.
