Great food. The corn cakes deliciousness is hard to describe and they are very quick to be devoured. Portions are small by national standards but I think it's just right. Food tastes fresh and the place is impeccable. Great for Saturday/Sunday brunch. I will be frequenting the spot.

Can be a little bit or miss. I almost always enjoy the food, but the friends I've brought there have been less than impressed. The service is the same. It's a newer restaurant so I know they're still working out the kinks. The savory and sweet pancakes are delish!

WORST SERVICE EVER. I saw pictures on Instagram of this place and it looked so cute. Very very misleading. Even though the aesthetics are spot on, the service in this place was TERRIBLE. My friends and I went on a Saturday morning, it was understandably busy. However after waiting 45 minutes for our coffee and mimosas, our waitress finally came to our table and said the bar was backed up. After an hour we got our coffees (not from the bar) and finally our mimosas. Another 30 minutes went by. Our waitress obviously ignoring us, would walk around the entire restaurant to get to the table next to us and wouldn’t look at us if we verbally called her over. Eventually almost every table around us left so there was no way to avoid us. She finally said she’d check the kitchen and see what was taking so long for our food. Apparently our ticket was thrown out, so we had to give our orders again. The waitress informed us we wouldn’t be charged because of their mistake. At this point we finally got to ask for refills of coffee and water. We didn’t get either until our food came out about 30 minutes later AND they ran out of coffee so brought back one mug full of coffee and the other mug was about a fourth filled. Ridiculous. The food portions that came out were also so small it was laughable. By the time we got our food we had been there for nearly 3 hours. We were just about to leave when the waitress brought over our checks. She had previously told us we wouldn’t be charged so we were very confused. We had to remind her that she said that and she acted like it would be our little secret that we didn’t have to pay. She let us leave without paying. In conclusion, the worst service I’ve ever experienced, the smallest food portions (most likely because they knew we weren’t going to pay), and not a single apology. Never going back here. Don’t fall for the aesthetics!!!

As a local business owner, I'm extremely ardent regarding "customer service." The food here is absolutely amazing! Yet, I've had several encounters with the waitress (Camille) who seems to be extremely overwhelmed, by her duties of delivering satisfactory service to Modern Generals foodies. Anytime you politely ask her for something specific, it seems to be of an annoyance to her. Customer service is the provision of service to customers, during and after a purchase. We have tried several times to be warm with her, only to receive the same energy as our previous visit. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest."

Amazing gourmet fare in a very hip setting. Fun little bookshop and dry goods store as well. Perfect spot for Saturday brunch or a slow lunch with friends. Serious quality food. Really friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. One of our family favorites.
