We have had both of our children at this wonderful preschool since they opened in 2015. Our older daughter has now graduated and is in 1st Grade in Mt Lebanon Public School and couldn't have been better prepared. She is mature for her age, and excels in all aspects of academics! Our son is now 2 and is in the Early Preschool classroom. He seems to be following in her footsteps. We have been thrilled with the facility, their teachers, the Directors, and the owners.
The curriculum is second to none. Very clean. Spectacular teachers. I wouldn't trust my child in any other facility.
Goddard is a great facility. The school is clean and well organized. The staff is amazing. The teachers do an outstanding job of balancing fun and education. They are adaptable, easy to work with, and helpful. The administration is amazing. They are great to work with and care about each child that is part of their school. I am thrilled with my experience at Goddard!
My child was bitten 12 times over a 7-month period at Goddard Upper St. Clair (USC). Each bite left a red marking on my son at minimum, but more often with a black and blue and purple bruise on his body. My husband and I were told and presented with a paper that described biting as “normal” behavior after expressing concern over the phone to one of the directors. As the incidents accumulated, I called one of the owners directly to discuss an action plan to prevent or reduce this behavior. Her response was that she could “try” to add a support teacher occasionally, but they had staffing issues, and she didn’t “know what to tell” me. By the 12th biting incident, I contacted the Department of Human Services (DHS) for help and was told that the quantity was indeed considered excessive and warranted the filing of a complaint, which I did.nnI also rated Goddard USC zero stars on their annual survey, based on the lack of care or regard for the safety and well-being of my child as exhibited by the directors and ownership throughout our experiences.nApproximately two weeks after my DHS complaint, my child was dismissed from the school without any advance notice. The owner verbally acknowledged that the dismissal was in retaliation to my poor feedback. Neither myself nor my husband will ever trust a Goddard property to care for our loved one again.
The owners of this facility are in it for their bottom line. School is soon to move from a 1:6 ratio to a 1:8 ration, and I'm guessing that choice wasn't made because they think more kids per teacher is better for the children. If your child has any issues they'll quickly toss you aside as they are striving to get the absolute most money out of each teacher they have.
