A nice stop if you need a break from the crowds. This is a nice quiet walk close to town. Lots of birds. A good place to sit and just enjoy. Very different than the rest of the area.
This is the Scott M. Matheson wetlands preserve. No amenities, no services, nothing over-the-top to get your attention, no food, no drinks. This is why it gets 5 stars. It is serene and beautiful. If I had more time, I would just go sit on a bench in one of the covered wildlife viewing areas.
Beautiful trails. The birds flew the coop the day we were there but it was a nice hike anyway.
It's a tinder box of deadfall and dry overburden. A cleanup effort or controlled burn may be necessary...
