DO NOT SHOP HERE!!nnMy daughter bought her wedding gown at this store and I bought my mother of the bride dress at this store. My review is not so much about the owner or the store but about the seamstress. I understand that the store is not responsible for her pricing, but they do contract her so in a way they are responsible. When I went in for alterations, I was quoted a price of $325 for alterations. I only paid $500 for the dress. When I objected, the seamstress told me I was free to go somewhere else and that she was pretty much the cheapest. Well I took the dress to a tailor, and everything she was going to do this dress in his professional opinion was wrong. She was going to hem my scalloped edged dress at the bottom and try to match the pattern. My current tailor is going to take the dress in at the waist, the proper way to hem a dress like mine. He said it's more work for him but it's better for me and I agree. So here's the kicker. All of the alterations and taking apart the waist for the hem and doing everything properly.....$105! That is a $220 difference and that's a big deal. And that even includes pressing the gown. I would recommend you don't go to this bridal shop. Read the other reviews thoroughly. I understand that we can all go to a different tailor but it's nice to have everything done at one place. The seamstress wouldn't even budge on her price. Her only remark was what can we eliminate to drop the price. in my opinion there is no human equation at this shop. It's all about money. That is my opinion. Also pay careful attention in the reviews that the owner doesn't take any responsibility for any of the complaints. If I could give this business a zero I would give it a zero.

Overall terrible appointment. I was pressured into first trying on dresses that were too small by 6 sizes, and then given the “clearance” dresses in my size range 12-16. While trying on, consultants complained about steaming dresses, insisted I walk out in dresses I felt uncomfortable in, and made comments such as “oh it’s a small 16” when I was excitedly trying a dress in my size (16). I found out after the appointment they asked my maid of honor if I was “uncomfortable in my size”. I am 5’8 and weigh 160 pounds. The dresses I tried on had broken straps, broken beading, and generally smelled. I would recommend this shop if you are a size 0-8 and enjoy being pushed around. Their claim to fame being the oldest bridal shop in the U.S. shows in their dated furniture, carpeting, dresses, and fixtures.

I walked in without an appointment to look for veils and the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful! Anne and the manager Jan knew exactly what I was looking for in a veil and I found the perfect length and style. I could not have been more pleased - thank you!!!

I bought my wedding dress at Carlisle's and had a great experience. I wanted to keep my dress budget at around $1000 or less, and they still had a good selection of dresses for me to choose from, and did not try to push me to try on more expensive ones. It was my first time trying on dresses, and I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted, but my consultant was super friendly and helpful, and we ended up walking out with a sample dress that day. Since I moved out of town after I bought the dress, I did not end up getting my alterations there, so I cannot comment on that aspect. I would highly recommend the shop.

I purchased my wedding dress from Carlisle’s bridal and would highly recommend them. I almost didn’t go in there but did because my mother in law had purchased hers there 40 years ago. They asked my budget and showed me dresses within that budget. The woman helping me was so sweet and complementary when I was trying them on. The second dress I tried on was the one. I stepped out and the manager even came over and said that’s the one. My mother bought her dress from there as well. Once my dress came in theanager was there to make sure everything was perfect with what the alterations lady was doing. My experience with them was nothing but perfect and they made finding my dress that more special. Thank you Carlisle’s!!
