Definitely a difficult, technical ride that's meant for experienced, in-shape riders. If you don't fit that profile, you could be endangering yourself or others by trying it. That said, it's absolutely awesome and unique, one of the coolest and funnest rides I've done, and not to be missed if you're up for the challenge!
So many amazing trails in Moab, this one is among the good ones.. Great scenery and fun rolling slick rock, bit too much up up and down with quick transitions. Had a hard time getting through this trail at the end of a long, full day of riding.. Could be more enjoyable on an E-bike for better flow through those quick transitions.
Originally created for trail bikes in 1969... Mountain biking became popular here in the 1980s and now it is open to trail bikes, mountain bikes and ATVs.
Thrilling slick rock trails that ascend and descend steep angles and around canyons.
From a mountain biking perspective: intermediate to advanced riders will enjoy riding here. However, it is dangerous and you should feel comfortable on your bike on more advanced trails. There is a practice loop here that will give you an idea of what to expect on the main loop.
I think it gets pretty crowded here during the high season. I am currently riding here in November, 2020 and it certainly different than when I rode here back in the late 90s. Atvs, trail bikes and mountain bikes do cross paths here.
There are fees to enter what is now called "sand flats recreation area".
Really fun trail! Expect 3-4 hours depending on fitness level maybe even an hour or two longer. Definitely unlike any trail I have ever road. Worth the experience for sure but quite the leg burner 👍🏽
The most unique and thrilling bike experience you will ever get in North America. It’s like riding on the moon with superglued grip. Just be cautious of heat and the lack of water the further you go.
