Soldiers National Monument

Magnificent and moving. One of the most important and sacred sites in American history. If you are an American visiting here will bring you closer to your history. If you are a foreigner, it is an opportunity to engage with a very special place that represents the best of this great nation.

This is a very beautiful memorial inside the national cemetery. The ceremony on the anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, November 19 was especially meaningful and moving. If you come that weekend, you can tour the cemetery at night with luminaries lighting the way. There are re-enactments and people dressed in period clothes walking around. It’s like stepping back in time.

Inspiring, somber and reverent were just some of the feelings I experienced during our recent visit to Gettysburg and the Soldiers National Monument. I recommend the experience to others.

Humbling experience. Lincoln gave his immortal address here. National monument for the common soldier. Every American must experience this place at least once.
