Gettysburg Community Theatre

Saw the Rocky Horror Live! on Halloween night at your theatre. Great fun! Wonderful cast! Will def return in the future! Thanks for entertaining us!

We bought tickets to see Into the Woods as a last resort when our planned event was cancelled short notice. I'm so glad it was cancelled, the musical was fabulous! I wasn't expecting the level of talent and professionalism that the cast, crew, and musicians displayed. If you like theater, I highly recommend making Gettysburg Community Theater a part of your trip!

So nice to see this old historic theatre being kept alive. We loved the BYOB note at the bottom of the Rocky Horror poster. We have never seen that in Canada

Though this theater looks charming, you will be appalled when you look behind the scenes. I appreciate the arts and love to see that people learn to do theater here, but there is one problem, and that is Mr. Chad-Allan Carr. Chad is the executive producer of the theater, but acts as more of a dictator. No matter who is directing the shows, he will always step in and take over. Most directors (especially the ones for the children's shows) are nice enough to let Chad take over, but most dislike it. He always complains about having no volunteers, but when volunteers come around, he treats them like garbage, and they won't come back because of that. He puts on a disgusting facade so people just think he's the friendly theater teacher, but he's terrible. He's made children and adults cry, with no remorse. Yes, I do believe that strictness can make a good show, but Chad goes over the top with it. WAY too over the top. To add on, he casts by who pays the theater the most. I have seen children get undeserved leads because their parents donate thousands to the theater. Now, it is very charitable, but he should still cast fairly. The most talented people at that theater have only been a main lead once or twice in the 20-30 shows they have done. It's terrible that children only stay there because this theater is one of the closest to people living in Gettysburg and towns surrounding it. I only made this 1 star so then people would recognize that this is happening. Everything else at this theater is amazing, but Chad needs to clean up his act. I honestly think that GCT's decline is at the fault of Chad-Allan Carr.

Great community theater. They aren’t afraid to take on the biggest and most popular shows. I’ve been impressed with everything I’ve seen there.
