Mandelkow Electric has been my electrician since 1999. He has worked on my personal residences and my rental properties. He is honest, professional, hard working, cleans up after his work and always does an outstanding job. Brian W

I contacted Mandelklow electric for an rough estimate for a replacing and relocating an old electrical panel on March/April. They came to the property for a job walk for a more exact proposal. During the job walk I disclosed all information about the house and the previous non permitted work done on the house. Which was the reason we hired them, to put the electrical panel in a code compliant location. During the months of waiting on Xcel I updated Mandelklow electric on any news I got from Excel.nnIn September Mandelklow electric finished 80% of the job but was delayed by Xcel again. They billed us 80% of the job which we gladly and promptly paid. When Xcel finished and hooked up the final connection, Mandelklow electric setup the inspection with our county's electrical inspector. The inspector noted 2 corrections. The corrections were a ground connection and a replacement of 16 breakers into the new arc fault breakers. Mandelklow electric claims they graciously covered the new arc fault but the new breakers should have been budgeted in the original proposal because the state of Colorado adopted the code from the NEC (National Electric Code) in 2014. After fixing those corrections a couple of the new breakers were still tripping due to faulty wiring in isolated spots and a bad gfci outlet. They were able to resolve that and we were satisfied when the inspector approved the work.nnI find it a bit ironic that Mandelklow electric was surprised that I never reached out to them because I felt the same when we received the billing for the extra work without any notice. In fact they had a chance to notify me about any billing change once when they changed to the new arc fault breakers and a second time when they were trouble shooting on the 19th of November. Instead they let us find out by a mailed bill. If they had a problem with the cost it would have been amicable if they informed us of any budget change but they didn't and the reason they didn't was because they felt they lost profits on the more expensive arc fault breakers. They didn't inform us of the billing because they assumed if we did not want to them to continue they would not only lose the remaining 20% of the balance but also some recovery payment on the new breakers which was originally their responsibility. So they inflated the cost of the extra work to cover some of the loss.nnI actually think they are more likable and competent electricians then most others. I would've recommended them to anyone needing electrical work. This is why I wrote a review instead of filing a complaint. For me it was a $379.92 experience which I wasn't given any notice or any other chance to decide on.
