Both Ponds still have water - mid October. They support greenery in the surounding area. Reflections in the pond make for a great view. It was a nice hike to start the day.
Nice walking area. Good place to walk dogs. On the way there are nice views of ocean and Channel Islands.
Beautiful lookout point. Finding a place to park was a challenge and aggravating. We ended up parking in the entrance way to one of the gated communities directly across the street from the south entrance to the trail, (although I'm not sure if that was OK or not). It took me, my wife and three kids (ages 7,5,2) about 30 min at an easy walking pace to make it to the ponds. It was worth the trip in my opinion because of the lookout point, just watch where your walking, passed a local hiker who said they had seen a rattlesnake the week prior. It's a wide trail so as long as you stay in the center of the trail, you shouldn't have any issues. Water, sunblock and proper attire as always!
Love these little ponds! I usually park at Dos Vientos Community Park and hike from there..
