This is a great moderate trail that can be used for hiking or trail running. It's a favorite of my 12 year old beagle. Tons of other dogs use it so there are lots of smells for your doggo. Don't worry, leashes required :). People are typically pretty good about cleaning up after their dogs - there are doggy bags along the way, so there's really no excuse. There is a river your dog can play in, just make sure its safe (it can contain green algae in the hotter, dryer months). There are also some local homeless that hang around, but I used to hike it at 530 in the morning with no problems. There have also been wild cat sightings, so watch out for them.
Plenty of parking, and some nice open grassy fields. The children's playground is a good one. But it also gets a lot of transient pressure, and, related or not, there's more than a little trash along the creek
We enjoy having this simple trail right by home. Whether for a simple walk or a bit more of a climb, there are lots of short birds to add to your walk. I love the manzanita trees and the views of Sonora are great. Sometimes the sounds of civilization echo up thetrail, so it's not totally secluded, but for a trail right by home, or that isn't super challenging it's great!
If you can find the public trails, it's pretty nice. Unfortunately there is little signage and it is hidden behind a private Seventh Day Adventist senior community and church property. Too bad more land was not provided for all members of the public and with easy access, parking, and proper signage.
It was a great hike with my grandson. We did a 3.31 mile hike total. We hike to the summit. It was beautiful.
