It was a perfect day out whale watching! We followed a pod of orcas and saw quite a bit of them. Truly amazing. I doubt any other tour saw as much as we did that day. We loved the coat and pants the company supplied -- we were very comfortable the whole trip despite it being warm on shore but cold in the high-speed boat. We were glad to bring our own hats and gloves, though. The boat design guaranteed that everyone on board had a perfect view. Everyone with the company was friendly and great! I highly recommend this tour.
Don’t hesitate booking with Western Prince. From check in through the boat ride to docking the staff was warm, professional and focused on our positive experience. They were thoughtful in their explanations and answering questions, and left a lot of good time for us to just enjoy the trip. We saw seals playing and breaching by their rocks. For the whale watching portion, we saw countless whales up close as they swam and breached around our boat. At one point we were surrounded by the killer whales which was a delight. It was wonderful to see how much joy it brought our tour guide and captain as well to share this experience with us. It was the best whale watching experience I could have imagined!nThank you!
We had a fantastic tour with this company, and it was recommended by friends as well! The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic about their work and commitment to our expectations. I’m a fellow wildlife biologist (20+ years experience) and though I knew quite a few facts about orcas, I continued to learn new information about this incredible species from the naturalist and captain on board. We were lucky enough to view a family pod for over an hour after all the smoke has cleared from the fires to the south and it was a special encounter we will remember for years to come. I also think they showed wonderful environmental awareness by using boats with less noise disturbance and smaller passenger capacity, which decreases stress for marine life and creates a comradery between the tour group. Well done Western Prince!
We saw a beautiful family of transient orcas in the sunset! The big males in the group circled a rock full of seals! So cool! Our Captin JB was great and our naturalist Chris answered every question we could possibly ask. I learned a ton. The suits we wore were perfectly comfy, cute, and kept us very warm in the evening water winds. Highly recommend and would go again if another relative wanted to for sure see whales!
I'm not going to lie, I wasn't getting my hopes up about seeing whales on this tour because I didn't want to be disappointed when that didn't happen, which I honestly thought would be the case, so I was beyond excited when the captain came over the loud speaker informing us that orcas were just ahead of us!! Seeing orcas in the wild was definitely one of the coolest animal encounters I've experienced (right next to accidentally hiking into a mama moose and her baby). In addition to seeing orcas, we also saw sea lions, seals, and bald eagles. The staff was great on this tour as well, they were both very knowledgeable about the different types of animal species in the San Juan area, which I always appreciate. They also had binoculars and blankets (it was pretty cold on the water) available to all onboard, which was greatly appreciated. Overall I would absolutely recommend this tour, it was a great way to spend the day and an unforgettable experience!!
