I have had AMI out to repair both my shower and my air conditioner. Both repairs were done in a professional and timely manner. The technicians were friendly, polite and very informative. I live in the East Mountains and they did not gouge me for travel charges. AMI is now my go to company for all my repairs.

I called my home warranty company HWA to report that my evaporative cooler wasn't working and they assigned me to Ashcraft Mechanical. After performing a quick Google search for the company and saw the sole review they had, which was on Yelp with 1 star. To say the least I wasn't too enthusiastic about using them and decided to call the home warranty company to have another company assigned to assist us. After 4 days of waiting for HWA to find another company we decided to use Ashcraft despite the review. During their first visit to evaluate the problem, the techs were on time, polite and very efficient. They told us the problem with the cooler and the it would require replacement as it wasn't worth it to fix. By this time we had been dealing with the high heat outside and it was even hotter in our house. The tech managed to do what I couldn't do, get the cooler to limp along and provide some cooling while they did the quote and submitted it to HWA. HWA sat on the quote for a few days and after repeated calls the quote was approved and we called Ashcraft late Thursday to let them know as they had been calling HWA also. Their office staff was incredibly polite and said they needed to confirm and would call us back. In less than 5 minutes they called us back and asked if we would be home the next day, which was a Friday. The techs showed up around noon and in less than an hour and a half they removed the old cooler and installed the new one and had it up and running. I know the other review used HWA also, and felt that Ashcraft was the cause of the issues they experienced. But in my family's experience, it was HWA that caused the delays and issues not Ashcraft Mechanical. I would highly recommend Ashcraft to anyone, while advising those same people to stay away from HWA.

Update: They contacted me and refunded my 75.00 service fee. I still would not use them personally, but they did correct the money issue. By the way? I’m still alive and still using the supposedly unrepairable furnace. EDIT: AMI says they contacted me immediately after this review. That is incorrect. I placed this review in March 2019 and they contacted me in June 2019. I would be happy to contact them, but the fact that they lied outright in their response to this review (see their response below) makes me very hesitant to contact them. This is NOT a malicious review. It is a factual review. My husband heard the conversation as it was on speaker phone. I will reach out to david@ to see what they want to do. To anyone in the Albuquerque or Rio Rancho NM area: Avoid Ashcraft Mechanical at all costs. I called in a non-working furnace on Wednesday 2/28 to my home warranty. Called Ashcraft the next day. Told that the woman who knew how to pull warranty requests was out for the day. RED FLAG #1. There only one person who knows how to do that? Technician came over. He immediately told me that home warranty was always a problem and rarely said yes. RED FLAG #2. Why was he so anti-home warranty? He looked at the unit. Moved the thermostat back & forth. Furnace never clicked on. He said gas solenoid was bad. I never claimed to be an HVAC tech so good. Furnace bad. He told me on Fri noon that he couldn't turn it into HWA until Mon. It wasn't turned in until Wed. RED FLAG #3. Why did it take so long? He already said the furnace was no longer made but he was going to look up parts? And it took him until Wednesday afternoon to do that? And I had to call them three times? They call me to tell me that HWA (Home Warranty of America) has refused the bid. I got mad at HWA and called them. Only to be told that Ashcraft had turned in a bid that included 20 hours of labor. Ashcraft's Ronnie (the supervisor I spoke with) told me the price they quoted was 2200 (give or take a bit.). RED FLAG #4 The tech REFUSED to give me his quote via voice mail or email. As in didn't want to be able to be proven a liar. So HWA sent out another company (whom I will be also reviewing glowingly.) That tech LIT THE PILOT LIGHT. That's right, he lit the pilot light. The supposedly bad gas solenoid pushed gas right through and the heater came on. I am now sitting in a warm home after 10 days of being cold. 10 days. So I called Ronnie at Ashcraft who told me he was there with the tech. I could hear the tech in the background saying, "It's a magic chef. I didn't want to work on it." I told Ronnie that he never even tried to light the pilot light. His tech responded "It's a magic chef." So basically, the Ashcraft tech did not do his job. Ashcraft refused to refund my $75 service fee. And on top of that? Ronnie from Ashcraft told me, "If that guy is wrong," referring to the tech from the other company, "you will die." Avoid!
