Coronado Elementary School

This school is great. The teachers seem to really care about the kids. Multiple teachers know my daughter by name, not just her own teachers. It is a language immersion school (Spanish) and I would say there is decent parent involvement. We are moving at the end of the year, and one of the saddest parts is leaving this school.

Great school! My children are very happy!! Their teachers are caring and very loving.

My grandson enrolled in the fall of 2017 as a kindergartener at Coronado school. He was younger than most of the other students, as he has a late summer birthday. Immediately, he began returning from school with "frowning faces" stamped in his binder. One day he actually came home with a frowning face already stamped in the binder for the next day. He was shamed by having his name put in the "bad" bucket each day and was given no praise or positive reinforcement. In his hurt and confusion, he began showing signs of extreme stress at home. He has been removed from Coronado and put in a different school where I hope he finds an administration and teachers who understand the terrible effect on a child of shaming, and who know how to encourage and reinforce positive behavior.
