Broeker & Sons

If there could be negative a million stars that is what this would be! We received a bid for a new roof on 11/20/2014. This company had been a referral from one my clients, she was in the process of using him, lesson learned do not use a referral until all of their work has been completed. Also research and look for reviews. So we chose to hire Broker and Sons. I requested a day that I could be home, but of course that never seemed to work out for Gary. So after a few weeks I gave him a way out and asked for my deposit back, he was like no, no we can get it done. So a month later he starts the roof, finishes, and demands payment before we have even looked at it in the light. He then asks if he should he just put the remainder on the card I gave him for a down payment (why he still had that information is beyond me!!!!) I said no we need to look at it. So on that Saturday my husband goes up and looks at it, and it seems fine. Fast forward to spring when I pull into my driveway and it looks like a shingle is coming up. We get on the roof and nails are coming out and pushing up shingles, there is an area that has exposed nails, a spot that we didn't notice that the flashing wasn't completely covered. So we contact Gary and he states he will be over Saturday or Monday, of course he didn’t show. So approximately 4 weeks later he comes and puts some black tar over the exposed nails, he must have hammered down the nails that were coming up, and doesn't fix the flashing. So I try contacting him again and he says that he fixed it. Him and I then have a very interesting conversation on the phone where he informs me he did a great job on our roof! A couple months later nails are pushing up shingles again. Gary won't return my messages, so I have my husband try to contact him. He tells my husband that he would be out that Saturday or Monday and of course never shows. I eventually see a Lawyer and she states he already has a lawsuit against him, and they have first dibs on his bond and we need to get someone out to see what all is wrong with our roof So we have 3 different roofers come out and they ALL state that there are only 2 nails per shingle and there should be 4 , the underlayment is incorrect, it should be ice and water shield, he used the cheapest thinnest paper out there. All of the vents were installed improperly. So we hire a company and they rip off the roof that is only a year old there were already leaks happening. 12 sheets needed to be replaced, he cut a big hole in a sheet for a vent improperly. The list of issues and photos go on and on. There seems to be no financial recourse for us, the only thing I am able to do is leave reviews letting people know to stay very far away from this company. Look up his lawsuit and see the shoddy work done there. My client who referred him to me, ended up firing him for actual damage he caused to her sons home. It is scary that someone can keep doing business, and stealing from people, because thats what he has done, stolen from us.
