The lake is lovely this time of year, the water is so warm but still refreshing. There is no sand, only dirt and rocks so bring chairs and swim shoes. We put up a canopy and had beers and leftover bbq from camping the night before, plenty of room for a family of 8. There are no buoys separating the swimming area from the boating area so you do need to be careful. I also would not recommend camping at this lake as there are no waterfront camping spots.
Unfortunately the was local smoked because the fires, but the adventure was perfect. The place is very nice, I recommend. Arrive early to be able to park close. ud83dude4cud83cudffbud83dudc4dud83cudffb
Good place for water sports. You have to have a boat or jet ski to get around. The water was warm and the lake is not crowded now. The rental marina is very busy so expect a long wait. The Marina staff is very friendly.
This place is good for certain water sports (power boats, jets, water ski, fishing, etc.) but not for swimming - I was trying to find a spot to cool off and jump in the water - but I wouldn't recommend that in your wildest dreams - the currents are way too strong, it's always windy and there are is no beach access, it's very steep coming down to the water just to realize it's muddy and all the above.
Completed a 2.5 mile hike that went in a circle around the recreation area. The hike is ranked moderate difficulty with some hilliness. Very scenic with multiple views of the lake and surrounding hills. FYI, there are no tables or or benches along the hike. There is a fairly large parking lot where the trail begins.
