Katherine is a wonderful, creative art teacher, no matter what your age. My daughter and I treat ourselves to an art lesson whenever we are in town. Katherine always designs an art project that is fun and doable in 2 hours. During the lesson, she patiently guides and inspires without getting in the way of the student’s creativity. She always has a good suggestion if you get stuck. I have never been disappointed in the results and I am always amazed at what I have created with my limited art abilities. Katherine is especially good with children because of her gentle nature. She loves creating whimsical, colorful projects that appeal to a child’s sense of fun.

If there's art in you, Katherine will find it. My husband and I moved to Raonoke a few years ago and met Katherine at a party. He immediately started classes with her, and I quickly followed. he's been working on drawing and painting independently for many years. I was an art history major in college and hadn't done too much aside from collage since then. But Katherine tried me with a few things like print making and painting and some three dimensional work, but then she showed me an altered book she had acquired some years before and my heart and brain took flight! That was two years ago, and since then, I have painstakingly created one major altered book and am hard at work on another. Katherine taught me so much about the craft of creating the various components of a book and taught me how to incorporate the various elements into a cohesive whole. If education is a drawing out of the student what she already knows and making it possible for her to make the necessary connections to create a work of art that comes from her center, then Katherine is an amazing educator! I will always be grateful to her for the journey she helped me pack for and take the first steps on. And in comfortable shoes with energy-filled snacks! katherine is a wonderful teacher.
Great artist. So much fun to learn from. Her classes are a blast!
