Excellent walking in the gorge! A paved path and also dirt trails into the hills above the basalt wall. Great views of the river as well. The terrain is very open, lots of oaks and sprawling bigleaf maples. Great opportunities for watching ground squirrels, turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks, and more wildlife. There is a lot of poison oak so be vigilant!

The Hidden Canyon Trail in particular has an amazing variety of landscapes and views to look at.

Well marked trail. Some loose gravel. Couple of different routes. We hiked about 5 miles.

The parking is spacious for a trailhead with a vault toilet. There are many interconnecting trails ascending up, but all meet at the top. The view is wide open to the Columbia river gorge. This trail is also shared with mountain bikers. I do enjoy this hike and have been there many times.

Great views, but today was extraordinarily windy. White caps on the river likely indicate strong winds on the trail.
