Gathering Grounds Cafe

My Americano came out promptly and it is fresh and hot! My friend is enjoying her cappuccino, too. I'd love to come back and try their sandwiches and/or pastries next time. Sunday morning, it is nice and quiet! Definitely a place to visit when you want to avoid the crowd of the Mosaic / Fairfax City nearby.

I absolutely love this place. Firstly, they give me my drink in my hydro-flask thermos, which I use to reduce my waste and keep my matcha warm!nThen, they will let you sit and work/study there as long as you like and not be rude about it. They are super patient and friendly, they hand write and draw their menu, think of new drinks, will lower music down if needed.nnThe place has points system, where for every dollar spent you earn one point. When you have 50 points, you get a free drink. I love this system.nThis is far better than starbucks. And their coffee is fair trade and they have all info out for transparency of where and how they get it from.nWonderful business I am proud to be supporting :)

I'm new to the area and unfortunately, compared to other places I've lived Fairfax doesn't seem to have very many local non-franchised coffee shops. With that being said I think if you're searching for a good local coffee shop this is a great place to start.nnIt has a very nice atmosphere and I'm sure if it weren't for a global pandemic would be a great place to read or study. I definitely look forward to the day where I feel comfortable sitting down here for a few hours to study. The music wasn't too loud and the space seems very cozy and welcoming. The thing I like most about this place is the creative liberty they take with their drinks. I love finding unique recipes for lattes, etc. The customer service has always been great and they have a nice rewards system for frequent visitors.nnMy only critique and the reason I'm giving it 3 of 5 stars is the flavor of the coffee. I typically give a place a few visits before I give it a rating and after visiting a few times I have come to the conclusion that there is little flavor in their drip coffee and espresso based drinks at Gathering Grounds. The lattes I have ordered mostly taste of warmed milk with minimal coffee flavor. The drip coffee has a very distinct taste that isn't something that appeals to me and I ended up pouring it out. Again this is all just my opinion, everyone's tastes are different and if it works for them and people like it then by all means go for it but I have a feeling that if they were to switch to a different supplier it would be beneficial.

I absolutely ADORE this place :) Wonderful vibe, amazing coffee with lots of customization options, and super nice employees! The Halloween and fall specials are available all year round (which is great because their Vampire's Blood is to DIE for). I come here pretty much every Wednesday.nnPhotos attached are from fall/winter of last year; they're now decorated with flowers and completely socially distanced.
