This was a wonderful ride through the country side. It was a nice break from our hectic trip and I did not have to drive. The scenery was pleasant and varied. The final stop was a pleasant little town but not much was open. The view of Mt Hood was good but not as close as I expected. As there in one track up and back I would suggest switching side to see another view going back to the beginning.
We've ridden this train 4 times, once as the dinner train, once as the Christmas Train and twice as a scenic ride. It is a very nice trip. The Spring is great because of all the plants blooming and the Fall is great when they are harvesting apples. That train usually switches in cars of apples for the trip home. Stunning view of Mount Hood. If you plan to explore the beautiful Columbia Gorge then this is a must do.
I took my adult daughter and her husband on the Mount Hood Railroad last fall and we had a wonderful time. We opted for the wine tasting and sack lunches and it was one of the most relaxed days I've had in a long time. It was a pretty clear day and with the leaves changing colors it was a wonderful trip. The people who took care of us in our railroad car and those who worked at the main station were all wonderful to deal with. A great way to spend a fall day.
I've brought my children and grandchildren on various trips over the years. Every time was special and every time we loved it. The Spring trips, the Christmas special trains, the summer Western train robbery show all were a delight and fodder for the imagination. Thank you Mount Hood Railroad for enriching our lives.
This place is amazing. My stepdaughter went bananas for it, and it was a nice comfy, beautifully breathtaking ride for our whole family. It’s super informative and just the right amount of time for kiddos. It’s nostalgic and happy and we can’t wait to go again! Our little one said she wanted to ride it EVERY DAY ud83dude02 highly recommend!! Can’t wait for the Xmas polar express!!!
