Such an amazing experience. Very poignant to experience the changing of the guard and take in the beautiful view. Arlington Cemetery is extremely strict and requires a photo I.D. to get in. This is just something we wish we had known before we got in line so I wanted to put it out there for others. Once you are through the line and screening process it is definitely worth the wait. The only bad experience we had while there was an officer being sort of scary to our kindergartener. He was being very quiet but while waiting for someone in our party to get their I.D. out of the car he was yelled at for not sitting properly on the bench.
Perhaps one of the most well known places dedicated to America’s Fallen soldiers. This place should be treated with utmost respect. Daily, the armed soldiers who guard this Tomb lay a wreath down in respect. This Tomb is guarded 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in any temperature and in any weather. Do not mess around while being here as it can cause you serious legal trouble. The guards do not mess around—as they shouldn’t. Make sure to completely silence your phone if you were here as you are absolutely not allowed to take calls or be disrespectful here. The changing of the guards is an amazing ceremony to witness as they do so with extreme intricacy and talent. I loved visiting this Tomb and honoring the lives of fellow Americans that lost their lives and sacrificed it all for us. Nearby, there is a park to walk around in. This can be a nice place to go after standing for awhile.
Very good
What else can be said? The Tomb stirs and boils an Americans blood. Many things in life can not be explained you must go.When I went most of the people that went were Amish I was very moved, I wish I could have shown you the look in their faces but out of respect I did not take a picture. They were profoundly respectful and sorrowful... it was a group experience.
One of the best historical things I've ever seen. The work and dedication the 3rd Infantry Regiment puts into ANC and Tomb is unbelievable. Much more than meets the eye. Ask them about their clothing and equipment. They custom make it all.
