Great spot for a family visit. Roads are good enough for most vehicles. Great views from actors the canyon, with just a short hike.
Unfortunately covered in graffiti but a nice little climb up to the cave and a beautiful drive up the canyon.
Ok, once inside, I paced the breadth of the cave and measured the breadth of cave tall enough for horses to stand in at about 20 ft across. I made a very rough estimate of lining up 3 rows of horses standing shoulder to shoulder and my numbers are a lot closer to 20 horses total. The sides of the cave are narrower and more horses could lay down in areas and more could be crammed in- but you gotta figure it's out in the boonies and the horses will be all jazzed up and excited from climbing up there and they won't want to be packed in really tightly... there's just no way you could get 40 horses in there. Think how hard it is to get all the kids lined up for a family reunion photo... I would think 20 is much more reasonable. Is there a rancher nearby that has 20-40 horses that is interested in running this experiment? I would love to be there to witness it and help coordinate...
Nice cave. There is more graffiti there than when I was a kid. Hopefully someone will go up there and sandblast some of the paint off.
Fun place to do a short hike and the kid's could play in the creek. The cave is tagged pretty good with graffiti which is disappointing. I would recommend the hike for families just remember you may need to explain the grafitti to your children.
