Ma Shakti was a great yoga teacher! She taught my middle school students and it was a great experience for them. She is very professional and experienced in her field of teaching yoga. She was able to provide an appropriate beginner-level for the population and adapt to fit their needs. If you want to learn the most legitimite form of yoga, I would recommend you go to her!
Have had beautiful experiences here.
Integral is a fantastic place to learn and practice yoga. I really enjoyed the time I got to spend here and learned a lot. It really helped me with my perspective on myself and life which allowed me to get to the places I wished to be. If you are interested in yoga I don’t think there is a better place here in Utah you can find to dip your toes or dive right in. It taught me a practice I can continue my entire life without ever achieving an ultimate end but rather betterment by each day I may get. If you stop by make sure to make it to a yoga therapy class and the mantra class, my all time favorites!
I was a new student and started coming here about a month ago. I loved the space and the classes. I came to class this evening however and one of the poses called “monkey” I have never done before so I asked the teacher for some guidance. She told me this was a free form class and I didn’t need to worry about it. Okay, great, totally fine with me! Then later on in class she asked me why I wasn’t doing one of the poses correctly, although earlier I was told I didn’t need to worry about alignment because it was free form, so I was totally okay with that. After being told I wasn’t doing a pose correctly without being offered any feedback, I was then asked if there was a reason I wasn’t doing one of the poses full out, when I was. I was stretching as far as I could reach for my body. After class I wanted to speak to the teacher to let her know how I felt during class and I wanted to let her know I felt that she snapped at me and that I felt I was upsetting her during class even though I was doing my best. The instructor, who is also the owner, told me to get out of her studio and ripped the check I wrote her right in front of me. She refused to listen to me even though I was trying to express to her from a clients perspective in the nicest way possible that I felt she was upset with me during class for not doing some of the poses “correctly” although she told me earlier I could do what was best for my body. She told me she was a yogi and was not going to listen to what I had to say because it was attacking her or something like that. I have never in my life experienced anything like this. Yoga studios have always been a place where you can do your best and move at your own pace. I have never been targeted for not doing a pose correctly without being given assistance, and then told to get out of the studio and to never come back. This was honestly the most traumatizing experience. I liked the studio and planned on being a regular through the Summer, but I guess not.
I was searching for somewhere to get my yoga teacher training. I found this school and signed up because the schedule worked great with my current schedule. Now that I have been going for 3 and half months I can see it is the perfect place and so glad I signed up! It is different from any yoga place I have ever been to. I have learned so much and am learning styles of yoga that I didn’t even know even existed. Ma Shakti is an amazing teacher and so intelligent about what she is teaching. I will definitely continue to keep coming here even after I’m done with my training.
