Diablo Canyon Recreation Area

Place is beautiful!! The landscape breathtaking. I did see mentions about the road on other posts. They were correct the road is one of the worst I've been on and I'm a country boy. The washboard is so bad you can't go past 20mph in most spots.

This is one of my favorite spots near Santa Fe. I love the canyon walls and the sandy trail. It’s easy to hike and beautiful to look at.nnI bring friends from out of town here all the time. The river is super beautiful.nnBut definitely watch out for rattle snakes. Especially if you’re bringing kids or dogs. We saw a gorgeous 3’ one the other day sun bathing on the sand on the side of the trail. (It was wide enough to keep a respectful distance though.)

Beautiful. Laid back hike mostly through sand. Great views inside the canyon. Then kind of dull for a while before you hit the river.

Great climbing and hiking. Beautiful scenery, one of the nicest areas in Santa Fe.

If you can make it through the 7 miles of washboard road it’s a beautiful place to camp, hike, explore, and rock climb!
