Los Alamos National Laboratory

My many visits to this historic site have all been positive. Great hosts and good crowds.nnThe desolation gives one plenty of time to reflect on what it was like back in 1944/1945 when the scientists were conducting their experiments in the rush to help end the war.nnThe site itself is fascinating to be able to view a remnant of the tower and a “time capsule”, a covered section of the original surface of the ground after the blast showing the fused glass pieces called Trinitite. A monument of stone holds a plaque designating the site as a National Historic Landmark.nnThe McDonald ranch house was set up to replicate the look when it was the “headquarters” of the test.nnFantastic memories!
