It was a great, challenging hike for me. I'm not an avid hiker, though not a beginner either. The falls were beautiful, and the journey there was amazing. This is one of the most unique trails I've been on. It has more vegetation along the way than I've ever seen. And I can't wait to see the rhododendrons in bloom! Beautiful hike, but not for the faint of heart.
Google Maps takes you to a seasonal road that connects with the blue trail head. The trail is easy/moderate difficulty, and we did not encounter falls or vistas along the trail. The Neversink River Area website has more specific information of how to explore the area.
Nice peaceful trail! Very quiet and you hear lots of birds chirping. I just wish that they had some kind of indication or map of destinations on the trail. Without them, you just keep going on and on and you don't even know how much longer you need to hike or what's ahead of you or when to turn around.
Nice shaded canopy for our 6 mile hike visited Denton falls... Great hike
A unique area indeed! My partner and I hiked the Neversink Gorge Trailhead in light rain. The trailhead was absolutely enchanting, especially in the rain. The blue trail was primarily easy, however, there was some rocky terrain that could categorize the trail as moderate. The yellow trails were more difficult. Hiking down to Denton Falls was extremely nerve-racking since the terrain was a downward slope that was covered with tree roots, rocks, and mud. The reward of viewing Denton Falls up close was well worth it, despite the uneasy terrain! I highly suggest printing a map out before visiting because the blue trail (Neversink Gorge Trail) continues on past the falls. Many people commented in previous reviews that they accidentally followed the entirety of the blue trail not realizing the Neversink Gorge Trail eventually turns into a red trail. Overall, this area was truly enchanting and well worth the visit!
