I purchased quads and the dealer opened a loan through First General. It has been a nightmare that led to the only ding on my credit report I’ve received in 30 years. Through multiple calls with my insurance agent, they were never able to resolve the fact that I had insurance on the quads and added their own without telling me for 4 months, even when I called in. When it was settled and they removed the insurance and issued a credit, they kept the late fees that were added to the accounts. Additionally, I had comprehensive only on the quads in the winter, and they chastised me for that when in reality, they couldn’t resolve that I had any insurance at all. Beth Ann North was far less than helpful, and forced me to reconcile on their website. I have my own bank website through LMCU (thankfully-a credit union that ACTUALLY works for the people). I don’t want to log into their site...I just want an accurate bill so I can pay it on time like I have everything else in my life! I will be paying these off or refinancing quickly so I can cut ties with this organization. I would NEVER recommend getting a loan through First General...buyer BEWARE.

Horrible customer service. They have no concern for fixing their mistakes. Still taking automatic payment from our credit union months after we signed the paper stating they no longer have our permission to do so and even after we make our payment early and directly to them in cash.

had a clerical issue regarding insurance where apparently we had none. instead of sending a letter to fix the problem. they applied their own insurance without notice and then months later send a tow truck to repossess our truck for non insurance. we quickly insured the truck right away after finding out where the error was, which cost us $730 and faxed it. then they asked to modify our payment adding $147/Mo to make up the money they paid for when they applied their insurance. then they sent the tow company anyway and demanded we pay the entire amount of $780 for what they paid the insurance for. took us an hour but we did find the $780. when we called to ask where we can get our truck back they said in order to get it out of tow we need $1200 now and they wanted next month's car payment of $333 also. so because of a clerical error the total cost for us to keep our truck(which has never had a late payment) $2263.nnUpdate: they want $1250 CASH on top of modifying payment from $333/mo to $438/mo for 3 years and pay the tow companies Hook up fee Cash. so after the three years a total cost of 6k over a non insurance issue.

This place is a joke. Rates are terrible. Employees constantly undermine and look down on members. Leadership is VERY incompetent and does the absolute minimum they can to keep the place afloat. Employees talk poorly about members behind their backs and often argue with them. If you're thinking of becoming a member here, just DONT. Go somewhere else and save yourself time and suffering.
