I like the fact this is literally 5 minutes from my house. I've hiked here all four seasons and it is pretty. I have two concerns that always make me hesitate going here: 1) the muddy parts. It would be helpful if wooden walkways/slats were placed 2) the new trail name signs are great, but the map doesn't name the loops or use color correlation at all. Maybe it's me as I'm new to hiking trails and there seems to be little offshoot trails.

The trails are probably best viewed on drier days, or with a good pair of waterproof boots. Lots of puddles, far more than any other SLT trails. Also needs one more sign or trail marker at the midpoint of the Cranberry trail. Good trails otherwise, perfect length for a good family walk with the dog.

A very nice walk. The trails are mostly flat, without the hills that make other trails a bit more challenging for me, but probably not for others that haven't wrecked their bodies. (I'm all go and I tend not to quit until I'm hurt or it's done)nThere are cranberries, but the lack of rain prevented a good crop this year. I believe there are raspberry bushes too.nOne of the trails is very reminiscent of a swamp when there is adequate rain and there are a lot of water plants that flower. You can look off the trail and the pools of water break up the landscape and isolate trees like they are sitting on tiny little islands with their roots visible and curving down to the water and the solid ground beneath it.nI have spotted mushrooms in areas, but they are not the edible kind.nThere are deer trails and small game trails cutting through the growth and winding through the trees. We have yet to see anything bigger than a squirrel though. We passed another walker and they informed us that they had just passed several snakes on the trail. I looked, but found no sign of them.nThere is some beautiful moss growing on the stumps of trees that are long gone.nIf you choose to walk these trails be sure to wear waterproof footwear if you visit after a lot of rain or if you go in the spring.nPlease take all of your trash with you. My daughter and I end up filling shopping bags full of trash that inconsiderate people carelessly toss on the ground.

It is mid fall and dry, so we didn’t experience the wet conditions others have mentioned, though we wouldn’t have minded in the right gear. The wetlands are beautiful! I enjoyed these loops so much that I brought my husband back later in the week and he couldn’t stop smiling! Our children enjoyed the varied landscape, from forest stands, to open field, to wetlands. It is noisy near the road, but the noise cuts down quite a bit once you are past the first stand of trees. Looking forward to what it is like in spring!
