This is a fairly typical county park, for northern Santa Rosa County. I say that as a guy that only visits these parks to metal detect as part of my middle-aged need to get out and be active.nnThe main building complex is relatively old, from the 1930s or '40s. The largest building was an elementary school back in those days. From retrieving potential targets, I can say that any older coins and relics have been buried under several feet of fill dirt, which is typical, in this county. Braving charges of slander, I'll go ahead and speculate that someone with authority has a relative in the fill dirt bidness, because county properties are uniformly slathered with several feet of nasty red fill dirt.nnThere are tennis courts, basketball courts, two baseball fields, a Tot Lot, and lots of free space. If a lot of people showed up, there's enough space for everyone to be busy. Santa Rosa County is getting better about providing park space and they should be doing that, because the population is ballooning.nnIf you have a reason to go here, go. It's a nice space. It isn't a park that you visit and just sit around and enjoy the quiet. But if you do go, take some pictures, post them, and enjoy yourself.
