Reviews

I’ve heard good reviews from ‘Chop it Up’ shops around the Seattle area and was excited to see one within walking distance to where I moved in Woodinville.Well, I was until I had actual experience dealing with themnnExperience #1 - walked in unaware that they only deal with appointments, so in popping in to see if I could get a line up, the 3 people working more or less snickered at my question before one of them finally made it clear to book online. Ok cool, I’m new at the process but having a staff full of folks who snicker/laugh at a customer isn’t good business... None the less I forged on and booked an appointment.nnExperience #2 - Booked an appointment online about an hour before I was scheduled to be in the chair.... the reservation site is set up so you elect the type of work done and by who - then it opens to the availability.... so after going thru their roster, I finally found someone who had more immediate availability.nGot to the shop a few minutes early. Only 2 guys were working - I was NOT greeted professionally nor even warmly, it was more of “hey, why are you here?”nTold them I had an appointment with so & so in about 5-10 minutes.n“Uhh, no you don’t”, said one of the guys, so I show them my screen shot and email and then the one who said I did not have an appointment opens his phone and 1/2 heartedly apologized because he didn’t know he had a last minute scheduling. He hadn’t cleaned up from the last person’s cut, so after making me wait an extra 10 minutes he begrudgingly invited me to take a seat.nnOnce in the chair it was fine, not the most engaging barber by any stretch but he did a good job with my fade. So as annoyed as I was at the customer service, or lack of - I wasn’t frustrated enough to post a review.nnExperience #3 - booked a haircut on the site just over 30 minutes ahead of my scheduled appointment. Again, I walked in and wasn’t greeted by any of the 3 staff members & finally one if them asks “you have an appointment?” (Neither in a friendly or unfriendly matter - more matter of fact)n“Yep, I have a 3:30 with so & so” - no response, just a shrug that my barber was somewhere beyond the chair closest to the door. As I was 10-15 minutes early, I grabbed a seat. I sat and waited without ANYONE else saying another word to me... I patiently waited the 15 minutes until my appointment time at 3:30, but still when 3:30 came, no one had yet said another word to me.nI expected after 3:35 that one of them might mention something to me about the timeline/delay & ensure that I would be helped shortly... But still no one seemed to care what-so-ever.nWith an upcoming work meeting scheduled, I began to get a little nervous I would be cutting things a little close (I get a buzz/fade, it’s pretty easy in the grand scheme of haircuts), so I decided I would wait until 3:45 for some kind of acknowledgement - but even by then no one had said another word to me.nAt 3:45 I got up and walked out, each of the barbers stopped to look at me, but not one of them said a word to me as I walked out.nnYa’ll might be decent at cutting hair but with how poorly you handle your customers I won’t be making my way back to your shop. If you expect the clientele to only book through appointment calendar only then you should make damn sure that you’re ready at the time, and if you’re not - at least acknowledge they’re existence and reassure them you’ll be with them shortly.nnI ended up walking out and headed over to 028 Barbershop across the street, I was immediately greeted and welcomed... it was such a drastic difference that it was the breaking point for writing this review.nnIf you appreciate customer service and communication (without some ridicule/disgust thrown in) save yourself the frustration and pass on Chop it Up!nnAny business with this much ambivalence to the customer experience is not a place i would ever recommend.

Always friendly and I leave with my hair looking sharp! Price isn't bad either. Has that awesome barabershop feel.

Went in to got my hair braided, been to many shops. I definitely say Ms. Mess is the best no hesitation. You can tell she knows what she’s doing, and has great communication to know what the customer is looking for in service of hair and design.

Had a cut with Christian. Chill, laid back, professional. Did a great job lining everything up and had been pointed to him by coworkers. Definitely will be back.

Mess is a true professional. Great with kids! Braids are always on point!
