Sold our plane a coupel of years back, but here's some information of interest to pilots:nThe long runway is north-south. 18 is the best of the bunch. However, with westerly winds, expect a bit of turbulence just before touchdown, as the trees west of the runway cause a bit of air tumbling.nThe two runways cross at the south end of the field 18/36 crosses 09/27 and it's a very good idea to make a radio call prior to rolling on 18 for takeoff because the west end of the field (where you'd roll to TO on 09) is not visible fhrough the trees from the threshold area of 18.nAfternoons, all of east Texas gets bumpy when the sun's out, so early in tyhe day flying is smoother. When taking off on 09, there is a modest elevation rise east and southeast toward the city.nOn left downwind for 36 you can get a good view of the NASA Balllon Center launch pad. It's also visible just to your left on final for 09.nIf you do come in short on 36, there's a low area before the threshold, so add power early and with 5,000 of runway, you have room to spare usually...unless you've got the Gulfstream out for a spin.nPublic hangar rents have gone up, but are still reasonable. Check with the FBO (Dan) and ask about instruction. Fuel is often cheaper in Rusk, but this is a good facility with a crew car and Enterprise drops off if you need more than one...nAir air ambulance service is just a few hangars north of the FBO on the east side of the field and the hospital is south-east of the field, so keep an ear on 122.7 for other traffic...Safe flying!
