Grotto Falls Parking

Awesome place to hike and see the falls. Well worth the hike. Better than hanging out in Gatlinburg in the lines to see stuff.

If you go in January be wary of packed snow which when frozen is extra slick. Great hike. Started at the first Rainbow Falls trail head parking lot. Walked the 3.5ish miles to the Falls, totally worth it. Pictures never do justice.

Absolutely beautiful and worth the hike! We went after a heavy rainfall so the trail was fairly muddy but I think the falls were even more cool with all the rain water. You can walk behind the water fall, which was really neat. We had to park a little ways down because the parking lot was full, but it was worth it. While it may only be a 1.4 mile hike, it's a steady incline, so be aware of that.

We took the trillium gap trail from the Rainbow falls trails parking area (due to the road closure of the roaring fork road leading to the grotto parking area). This was much further than the 2.6 miles we anticipated so be prepared! In the winter much of the path is narrow, mushy, and there are a lot of fallen trees. Nevertheless, the falls were beautiful

Parking is extremely limited, get here early in the morning or late in the day or you will not find a spot. We had to go around the motor trail twice (was an extra 30 mins) before we found something. A bunch of cars park on the side of the road 1/2 miles from the trail head.
