Our go-to lunch. ~$5 for a awesome slice of pizza, with a soda if you're willing to get pepperoni or cheese pizza and it's their lunch special. Also you can eat in the store, which is very much missed. Thin crust with plenty of cheese and a wonderfully smokey crust. My S.O. usually leaves the crust to me, but here she loves it :(nnOrdered a manhattan from the bar once though, tasted like sugared whiskey, no bitters no orange. Decent cost to get tipsy, but not my favorite drink.

The pizza was wonderful! They used a variety of Italian cheeses, which made each pizza special. It tastes authentic as we enjoyed in Italy. We also loved the Tiramisu. It was really good and had a great balance of the different flavors. The staff are also very accommodating. We will definitely return on our next trip!

My fave fave fave pizza! I drive an hour just to get a slice! The crust is soooo good! Crispy and more importantly, perfect foldability. Sauce is slightly spicy, perfect cheese. Has a good dive bar feel, strong drinks. Ate in and got a slice to go. I always take out of towners here.

I have been here many times and the consistency is always on point.nThe service is direct, straightforward, nothing more and nothing less. It's what you expect when you go into a pub-pizza joint and that can be a good thing or bad thing depending on what you want out of your customer service experience. For me, I like coming here hanging out with my friends and grabbing a slice of pizza without much interruption so it works for me.nThe vibe of the place is pub meets pizza joint, as I stated earlier, so it's chill, easy, slightly retro (which I like) and comfortable.nThe food is very good - I like New York style pizza which means the pizza overall is thin, you can bend it to eat it and it has a good sauce to cheese ratio. Big Mario's version is simple, tasty and gets the job done in a good way.nLike the service, the vibe and the food is not in your face but it's comfortably present and it always a good experience.

A Cap Hill local told me to check out Big Mario's. I've only tried the pizza slices to go. I have no idea why this place is famous for their pizza. Communion wafers have more taste. I've tried the Ballard location, too under duress and/or to prove myself wrong :-) and it was equally unimpressive. I don't expect much from pizza to go. I even appreciate a little sunlamp-burnt cheese and meat with a crispy almost burnt crust sometimes. I doubt I'll go back and shell out $30.99 for a larger version of the sacrament lol but I even more so doubt that any hardcore fan of Mario's will pay any attention to this review. To each her own
