This would have been terrific with such beautiful beach access, except our site had painful sandspurs everywhere and the freaking midges/ no seeums were so viscous and unstoppable by the tent that it rates as top 5 worst experiences of my life. It was 95 degrees in the middle of the night, stagnant with no wind, and we were literally being eaten alive. We slept in the car and were on the ferry to Cedar Island by first light to get away from the God forsaken campsite of pain.

Beautiful beach camping with spots right near the ocean or farther back if you prefer to not camp in sand. Very clean bathrooms and showers, very friendly park rangers, and the best stargazing I've ever seen. We will definitely be back!

It's ALWAYS an efficiently run mosquito farm. Skin So Soft DOES NOT even affect these buggers. My essential oils bug repellent that works on my marshy 5 acre front yard in Raleigh WON'T DETER THEM. BRING DEET!! I underestimated them our first time camping.... NEVER AGAIN. I come fully armed.nnThe campground is conveniently only a few miles from the village and awesome restaurants. The ocean is just over the dunes. It's our favorite place in the world!!

Good and bad... You can snag a spot right next to the ocean, just behind a sand dunes, listen to the waves crash and watch the stars as you fall asleep... you are right next to the beach.nnThe Bad, the mosquitos here are insane, I was here in December and there was literally a black cloud around my tent. For $28 a night the showers are cold...and despite clear skies, the fog caused a ton of water to collect on and build up in my tent... like it rained but it didn't.nnThere were maybe 10 people is this entire campground, it was warm, but if this place was full, I think the natural beauty might be lost but perhaps the mosquitos would have more targets and thin out a bit..

Wonderful! Be prepare RVers as there are no hookups... But nice toilets and cold water showers. Excellent campsites!
