I absolutely love this place. There is a river running by bathroom with showers and some really awesome hosts. The day we got there we only had time to set up our tarp before it started pouring down rain. The hosts were hospitable enough to come over and check on us and warned us of the storm system in our the area. They told us if we needed anything to let them know. They were nice enough to let us borrow a tarp since all the ones we had were keeping us dry. It was my second time going and I fall in love more everytime I go, its absolutely beautiful. The plots are spaced enough from each other that even though your in a campground u still have your own peace. Each plot will hold about 25 people. Huge fire pit area, 4 large grills and lamp poles around the plot. So beautiful I highly recommend.

We drove 4 1/2 hours in the hopes of getting a first come first serve camp site at cheoh point camp grounds, but they were all full. We drove around lake santeetlah looking for a primitive camp site but they were all full. We pulled into rattler ford camp ground to try and get a camp site for the night and then head home disappointed. We spoke to the camp hosts to see about a camp site and instead of just taking our money or sending us away, they told us about a primitive site just around the corner that was available and free. They also said if we needed water or fire wood they could help us out. Big thanks to the camp hosts of rattler ford camp grounds for making our labor day weekend an enjoyable one.

We stayed in camp number 004 - absolutely beautiful! Perfect for several families to tent camp. We had 4 picnic tables, 4 lantern poles, several large and flat tent pads, a big grill (with 3 cooking stations), and a fire ring that was big enough for all of our chairs to sit around. We were next to the creek (20 feet or so), which lulled us to sleep every night. The bathhouse was close and there were 5 parking spots (10 if you double parked). The bathhouse was not particularly clean but it did have hot water, showers, and flushing toilets. Camp 003 was also nice (but seemed to have less obvious room for tents). Camp 002 was spacious but a little bit close to the other sites. Camp 001 seemed to be more in a field than by the creek and was a bit close to the road. In my opinion, 004 was by far the best site. Although there is no W/S/E hook-ups for RVs or campers, you could park one in the parking lot. The 4 group camps surround a large open field with a sand volleyball court and horseshoes. The Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest is about 1/4 mile away from Rattler Ford campground. It has 400 year old trees, a well maintained hiking trail, and picnic tables. The overlook was closed while we were there, but I hear that it is amazing as well.
