Dale is gone new management they are amazing store has everything you need . Very nice people running it now.

Dale’s Fairview Grocery has served Fairview families for 11 years and Dale will be incredibly missed. Dale knew everyone’s name and asked about our families and jobs as he held down the Fairview gas station that was your first place to get gas coming back from Lake Lure, and the last chance before you head into the switch backs of Hickory Nut Gorge before getting to Chimney Rock. I will miss his heartfelt inquiries when I would stop in over the last 11 years: “how was school today? Or which job did you come from today? Or have y’all made it to the swimmin’ hole yet? Or I just filled up the ice cream cooler yesterday and I will have more of your beer brand in tomorrow...” I could go on. As our community fills with more Dollar Generals and big name oil brands, Dale’s Fairview Grocery and especially Dale himself will be missed. Fairview Grocery may soon be filled with some other vendor or brand that probably paid boatloads of money for a spot they see could make them more money than they paid with the changing real estate market that is 2019 Fairview, NC. Dale came in when we were still being called “Farview” and nurtured relationships with those of us in need of a six pack on the way home from work, ice on the way to the lake, coke in a glass bottle or if we were running low on cigarettes. Even if I don’t require most of those things anymore, I still made a point to come grab something and let Dale know his business was more than just a cornerstore. I won’t be returning to this gas pump or convenience store again because Dale isn’t here anymore; and he still would be if, after 11 years, a notice to be out by the end of the month hadn’t been issued to him without warning. If you made it this far, I hope you will join me in finding your convenience items somewhere else nearby rather than give your dollars to people who clearly don’t care about our community-and sending prayers for Dale to find a job soon that will replace the income he developed after 11 years at the business he started out working as just a cashier over a decade ago.
