As a former gifted ed student that transferred to a magnet school, I think these programs are similar. The only difference is that they incorporate academics AND arts, and immerse the arts into the four core classes. It is commonly stereotyped that we are just an art school but we are so much more. If you are very smart in subjects like math or English, you can and will be placed in a higher level class that fit your educational needs. We do have classes such as desktop publishing, keyboarding, talented art, talented music, talented drama, musical theatre, dance, PE, band, strings, etc. This school and all programs will shape me for the future and make me the best person I can be. I will also get into Baton Rouge High thanks to MMAM. So to all you haters out there, your welcome. LONG LIVE MCKINLEY!!

I attended this school back during the 2009-2010 school year. I was in the 6th grade by the way. But, my experience the school was horrible. I was bullied and mocked brutally everyday, however, I never reported it because it never bothered me. When I look back at it I can't imagine how I even went through that hell. I had no friends whatsoever! Nobody liked me at all, but I would say the school was magnificent tho. Giving this a one star due to my bad experience but great school.

Very big and is very good for people who loves dance and acting and love to sing. Overall this school is not trash and is for talented and gifts students that like performing.

Some of my friends go to this school and say that they really like the magnet program. Though I am not in this program I can't say anymore about this school than what I already know.
