I attended the seattle native plant sale for the Washington native plant society on October 5th. I left fairly disappointed.nnExcellent: the staff. Very friendly, very knowledgable. A+++nnThe bad: some of the potted plants were sold as potted plants but were basically bare root plantings. A little sketchy. Red twig dogwood. Further the prices really weren't that great. I have found online sites selling native western wa plantings from local sources that are much cheaper including shipping. Across the board. Major mark up here.nnThe biggest disappointment was the selection. They said huge. I saw small. And I saw running out of everything! Here what was totally sold out:nnSalalnEvergreen HuckleberrynThimbleberrynRed twig osier dogwood (I bought last two and came to buy 10-15!)nVine maplenOnly 5 Doug firs leftnRed huckleberrynSalmonberrynHardhack spireannSo great staff and really poor management of the event/preparation and pricing is not that great.nnI found a place called tadpoles nursery in Woodinville and they have a nice selection and have great pricing. Not sure what the deal was here but not what I had expected. Maybe the event promotion set the stage...nnI went ahead and purchased plants to support the concept of this organization and the volunteers. I hope they get a handle on things. I will see if it gets better maybe and give them another shot year after next.
