This is a good preserve to check out if you don't want to walk to far for a pretty nature view! The boardwalk paths lead you around a pond/marsh and there is so much wildlife to spot! I almost always spot an alligator or two.

Nice trail and wildlife viewing. Just remember to put on bug spray before you go for a hike.

It is very pretty. The path towards the watch tower is flooded now so you will get your shoes in mud if you want to go that way. Otherwise the trail was mostly dry and very well maintained. We did the outside path too, the square, but the map on the pamphlet of the site is misleading, as there isn't a trail along the railway to close the square and you basically have to go on the side of the road, which isn't always very walkable.

Nice boardwalk that has a couple benches to chill and watch a gator or 2 swim around. The natural trails were well maintained BUT the mosquitos became a problem the close to the river you got. You have to keep moving. I don't know if they are always bad tho ud83eudd37ud83cudffb‍♂ufe0f. The observatory tower didn't excited me at all lol. Just a bunch of tree tops. Check out the indrio savannah lake about half mile north on the left side of US1 (google directions) for a lil better of a natural trails and observatory

I visited DJ Wilcox Preserve at sunset. Saw baby alligator & turtles in the water. Very peaceful.
