Pretty neat. We walked the equestrian trail to the non potable water area (I think about 4 miles in). We only seen about 5 people and they were on the mountain bike trail. There were different types of scenery so you didn't get bored. It was shady & not too many bugs, yet. I'm sure that will change during the summer. Will go again.
Excellent. We live just a few miles away. We love taking our E-Bikes on the trail. After the 1st half mile to mile the horse hoof tracks make the trail rough but after that it smooths out to an enjoyable ride.
A quick warning to anyone with small children that can be spooked by dogs running up to them off leash, or anyone in general that isn't fond of this. There is a woman with two white dogs, who ignores the leash law we have around here, and it really wouldn't be an issue if she actually kept her dogs in sight, and had control of them. Me yelling at the dog to get away and literally pushing, and grabbing the dog to try and get it away from my dog and I, is not something I like to deal with it. They finally did go back to her after multiple times of her calling them. I went about a month ago on the Halpata Tastanki trail and when we were going back to the car I saw the same woman and two dogs running very far ahead of her, so I'm going to guess she goes frequently. So please be advised, and not so surprisingly she will not even acknowledge you and offer any type of apology, so that was quite an upsetting way to start off our trail. Luckily, after that we did not encounter anything else, but this wonderfully enchanted forest. We were out for 3.5 hours, and literally the only ones. We saw some wildflowers, half a dozen Zebra Swallowtail butterflies, and I was shocked to actually come up to multiple hills. If you have any trouble climbing please be aware of this, as it could be a bit steep for some, but also this is where the enchantment really begins. It is very clean here as well, and the smell of the Pines add this wonderful sweetness to the air. It was quite an enjoyable trail, and please remember to check out the memorial rock circle that is just after the beginning of where the trail splits for biking/horse riding, and foot traffic only.
Place is very nice and clean and quiet. Not much wildlife but with all the bear signs around I guess that could be a good thing. Plenty of trails to ride you could be there for hours and hours
Pretty wide trails share by people in horses, walking and biking. Few people in the latter. I think is better for horse riding and maybe walking. I did mtb and it was ok. I got bored after 8 miles. Next time I have to try the tricycle trail. Apparently there is a good blue trail after the tricycle trail.
