An oasis of a park in Tallahassee!nnWhile I've passed by Governor's Park for years without a second thought, I finally made the decision to stop by with our dog after talking to friends. Man, why did I not do this sooner! Governor's Park is a wide-open oasis of a park, with a large rolling field perfect for walking with your dog, playing games, or just laying on the grass. You can also take a walk around the perimeter to hang out in the shade and take in the greenery. While it's definitely sloped, we still have enjoyed tossing a frisbee or playing games in all of the space. There are trails that stem off from the main entrance as well, but they're single track and didn't really give us as much space as we wanted.nnDefinitely a park I'd recommend to get away from it all while staying in the center of Tallahassee!
Super peaceful park, open space to play with dogs
The park itself starts with a large green area that is slightly uphill. I saw people with dogs mostly. My toddler, who loves to run, enjoyed the open areas but she was quickly bored as we had to walk uphill for a while. The park is nice, but I watch for dog poop. Dogs were all kept on leash and everyone has plenty of space.
This is personally one of my favorite parks in Tallahassee. It's a bit of a hidden treasure, hardly anyone knows about it. Beautiful green pasture bordered by woods. This is hands on the best picnic spot in town, quiet, not crowdy and with plenty of wonderful secluded corners
The highlight is an large, open field with surrounding interconnected trails. Great for picnics, pets, and casual sports. The nearby railroad track and overpass are neat.
