Gander RV & Outdoors of Thornburg

I feel the overall sales process was more than amazing. For this I would 5 stars. Michelle Hyman and Sherrie the finance manager are true experts in their respective fields. I really like Michelle because she was so down to earth, extremely knowledgeable, and had our best interests in mind. Her experience and knowledge was one of the major selling parts for me.nnI wish a thorough clean off the RV could have happened (inside and out). If I could rate this part differently, I would definitely give it 5 negative stars. When u buy a new car or truck, the dealership spends the necessary time to deliver the vehicle being really clean and sparkling. Obviously this was not done here, which makes me sad!nnThe two nice gentlemen who gave me the walk-thru and installed the sway bars were both super awesome and honestly, an extension of the professionalism taught by Gander RV.

After a year of ownership I have to change my review of Gander RV in Thornburg. Unfortunately will not let me give a zero star review. Consider it implied. Their follow on customer service is the absolute worst I have ever seen. As many new campers do, ours had to go back for several warranty related issues. Dealing with their service department is where the nightmare begins. You are treated like an annoyance. Our camper sat there for months waiting for work to be done. It’s was like pulling teeth to get updates. We basically lost an entire season of camping. When we finally picked it up in the fall we were still waiting in parts that were back ordered. They said they would call and let us know when they arrived. It’s now April and we still haven’t heard from them. So this past weekend we went out and our Whirlpool residential fridge was not cooling at all. Both freezer and fridge side are not working. Knowing it would be worthless I called Gander service and was advised they don’t work on residential fridges. And they would charge me labor to have remove it to be serviced or replaced by Whirlpool! Camper is less than a year old and they would charge us labor to have warranty repairs performed on the camper! We also bought the Good Sam extended service plan. We will obviously be taking the unit elsewhere to have it serviced. On several occasions we asked to speak to the general manager. Six months later we are still waiting on him to get back to us. Apparently the problem extends beyond Gander. They are owned by Camping World. Camping World Corp has also yet to return any of our calls. Buyer beware spending your hard earned money at this place. Once they hand you keys their smiles and courtesy stop. I encourage anyone looking for an RV to avoid Gander RV or any dealership owned by Camping World.

Bryan took his time showing us as many units as we wanted. Mark rocked and took care of us, making sure our camping season started on the right foot and even threw in things that may have made getting started this season unlikely. He made it possible. Sherri got us through financing in a snap! Excited to get out there with our new and beautiful RV. Would recommend!

We can’t say enough good things about our experience in purchasing our very first RV! The people working at Gander RV in Thornsburg Va were awesome! Our sales representative, Timothy Webb was great! He took time to answer all of our questions and show us a variety of RVs, he was just awesome. I’m so glad we were paired up with him. He’s very knowledgeable and really took time to address our questions, set us up with the number to call to get insurance and assisted us with getting the price and financing we needed. We are extremely happy with our purchase! Thank you Tim and the great people at Gander RV. We appreciate the awesome experience and will be sure to tell our friends and family about it!

Chris has been the most helpful agent I've ever had. He and the whole Gander of Thornburg team have made this experience turn from a rather sour taste to even sweeter than I could have imagined. If you want SERVICE, I highly recommend their sales managers Mark & Mark who go above and beyond to make the situation right, their fantastic finance department with Ms. Sherry who is just the kindest woman you can find, and for you to reach out almost exclusively to Chris and his team. He is so professional and you'd never guess his age just because the level of maturity he provides to you. This whole team brings an utmost level of care to every sale. Thank you so much guys.
