Went to get a breath of fresh air... The visitor center was closed due to covid... The grounds are very well maintained and the surrounding areas are clean and beautiful... There is no trash and people loitering around the property. Overall I enjoyed visiting the visitor center even though they were closed or should I say not open same thing no matter how you say it.
We love being here . Portsmouth has so many things to do and these people know where everything else. The ideal place for sailors Everything you need is within walking distance.
This new visitors center/gift shop is a must see! It offers a large amount of free information about not only Portsmouth ... But the whole state of Virginia! And the gifts are awesome too! The beautiful view of the marina is charming, and the staff is friendly and respectful. Visit Portsmouth and fall in love with the part of Hampton Roads that's on the other side of the water!

Lots and lots of information on Hampton Roads! They also have a $2 off coupon for Nauticus Museum (it's in the Visitors Guide). Employees are very helpful.
