I have been a member of the YMCA for close to 45 years. My dad, Charles R. Ward, was a member of the downtown Y on Franklin for as long as I can remember. He would take us girls, there were 4 of us daughters, with him when he played handball and we pretty much had free run of the facility. It was great fun. Dad was the East Coast Handball Champion for a few years; can't quite remember how many. Anyways, Eventually I joined on my own and have been a member ever since. It is part of my life and daily routine. Hard to get the day started without a trip to the Y. They have so much to offer for everyone at every walk of life. Obviously, I love and believe in the Y.

I’ve always wanted a membership at the Y and now I’m an adult and have to kids and wanted to get back into shape. Well we went today after getting a membership last night and they will not watch my kids because of Covid. They will not watch my almost 2 year old and my 4 month old. They will only watch kids 2 and older who are potty trained. I understand having a limit on kids in the child watch area but why an age limit. Why am I gonna pay $78 a month to have to go and also pay for a babysitter so I can work out. Beyond upset. We cancelled our membership.

I like that the Patrick Henry YMCA has taken so many precautions to allow me to come back to the gym so I can continue on my weight loss journey. I see cleaning/sanitizing and safety measures being taken every time I come to the building. Despite all of the extra work for the staff, they continue to smile behind their masks and greet me each time. I appreciate all of their hard work.

Was soo awesome to walk in and see so much more equipment open and accessible. how you didn’t just listen to our suggestions but immediately acted on it. Just an amazing team and family I’m soo proud to be a part of! That’s why I love the y it’s a family like no other, and you won’t find in any other gym ❤ufe0f
