This is a cool area along the river that's filled with parks, beaches and historical landmarks. The area can get pretty crowded during the warm seasons, and parking is pretty limited. While your at the beach, definitely take a walk along the Belmont-Ferry Farm trail for a Fredericksburg history lesson

This place is PACKED. These folks beside us brought a full sized grill and 2 full sized propane tanks. They must have had 15 backpacks with them. I think if you want to come here on the weekend, you gotta get here early to get a decent place and just stay there all day. People were driving up to the river and parking... It was crazy. Cops showed up to get all the people who'd parked in the sand to leave.

Your visit needs to be very strategically planned to avoid the crowds and make sure to find parking (especially on weekends in the summer). The amount of garbage left behind is disheartening. The county crews do their best to keep up but don't be surprised to find mainly aluminum cans and other stuff in the water. I highly recommend some type of water shoes.

Parking was a nightmare and the rocks in the river are painful. If you have tender feet, i recommend wearing crocs or water shoes. It was nice to get the kids out of the house and in the water since nothing else is open right now. Kids had fun.

Love this spot definitely a good way to spend the day on a hot summer day. Coolers allowed grills allowed only on the grassy area. Bring all your stuff perfect place for a full day for a kickback.
