Punchbowl Falls are nice...but continue down trail to the Confluence for great swimming and picnic spot.

Great Spot to see, swim, and dive. You can set your GPS to the intersection of Punchbowl Rd and Lost Lake Rd in Dee OR and you'll be directed up Hwy 281 south out of Hood River and you'll veer off and down to the right off of the hwy by an old fruit packing warehouse and then you'll come to the T in the Rd where you'll see the sign to Punchbowl heading to the right and Lost Lake to the left. Go right about a mile and you'll take a big curve around to the left and you'll see a dirt parking area on the right and an iron swing gate. (If you drive across a bridge over the river onto a gravel road you've gone too far.) Park there along the road and go around the gate. Walk down the dirt road/trail about 250 yds and keep looking to the left where you can hear the river and you'll see a trail leading to the edge and a Danger No Diving sign. Look around and you can find a walking path down to the river that is fairly safe and then down at the bottom there are large flat rocks to walk around on and even have a picnic. There are ropes anchored to help you if you need them. There is an anchored ladder down to the punchbowl that is pretty sweet and you can swim around or dive at whatever height you want. Current isn't too bad in the punchbowl away from the falls and it's very deep. Beautiful.nI actually jumped this from about 75 ft and broke my back -fractured my T12 - It's dangerous :)
