Goering Ranches Airport

Landed here many years ago in a midget mustang that I was ferrying back to Oklahoma. Stopped by to pickup a transponder for a friend but nobody was around. I started to walk up to the house but saw some big dog prints and decided not to take any chances that the only one I might find was a large protective canine. It was getting dark and the little mustang was a bit of a ground lover. I taxied out to the very south end of what was then a very sandy runway at that time. I had to get out and pick the tail up to turn it around. I pointed it down the runway and laid the wood to it. I broke ground a little past halfway down the strip, climbed out and headed up to Prineville to find a room for the night.
