Stunning views... Iceberg Peak towers more than 3,000 feet (910 m) above the lake. A popular day hike destination, Iceberg Lake is a 4.8 miles (7.7 km) hike from the Swiftcurrent Auto Camp Historic District.

It's a very nice lake and makes you really feel like being in your own world while at lake level and being surrounded on all sides by mountains and forests. And as long as you don't come too late in the season, the floating icebergs are a fun addition. If you are really looking for some adventure, consider taking the Shangri La trail, which turns this into a loop trail rather than an out and back. It also led to us passing a lake that was really beautiful and also incredibly quiet as I can still vividly recall how being there seemed to be one of the true times in my life where there truly was the absence of any sound. But before you attempt this, please know what you are getting yourself in to, as it does require some pretty aggressive scrambling that may leave some uncomfortable as well as a steep descent down the scree (i.e. loose gravel) at the end to make it to Iceberg Lake.

One of the best hikes I've done! The scenery offers so many different variety of things, and this should be on your list if you are visiting Glacier National Park.

We came over to this area of the park for a long day of hiking and it did not disappoint.nnOn our drive in, we saw a grizzly bear cub on the side of the road fairly close which was cool.nnWe stopped at the information center and found out that the Grinell Glacier trail was closed part way up because of snow. Because of that, we decided to do the Iceberg Lake trail instead.nnThe start of our hike was quite foggy so we couldn't see the tops of the mountains. Right as we approached Iceberg Lake the fog lifted to reveal gorgeous views. The lake was absolutely stunning. The hike back revealed great views of the surrounding mountains that we couldn't see on the way there.nnThe hike itself was about 9 miles round-trip, a little shorter than the signs said. It started out pretty steep, but it leveled out pretty quickly. The way there was almost all uphill, but it was a fairly gentle climb.nnI would absolutely recommend this hike and I'm sure there are many others that are great at Many Glacier as well.

Great hike and not as hard as it’s rated on the NP’s map. The trail has a good variety of forest, creeks, and open view to the Glaciers. You did not see the iceberg lake till the end, and it’s totally rewarding. We got there during the early season so there’s real iceberg on the lake!
